homemade anti aging skincare recipes

It is only natural that as people get older they want to continue looking young so the regular use of anti-ageing skin care products is becoming the norm. We achieve this with anti-ageing products that synthesize the production of the protein collagen. Collagen is related to other Substances called anti-oxidants which help reduce the anti-ageing process.

Although the benefits of vitamin C (an anti-oxidant) are well documented, it is still debated as to what our daily amount should be. Skin care treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.

Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. Although these products are good, they cannot actually compare with vitamin C but fortunately vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants so can be used to gain the same effect.

It is found in the blood it is an anti-oxidant that is also used to increase the body’s defences against other diseases. Lipoic acid which is found inside every cell of the body helps generate the energy that keeps us alive and functioning.

Phytochemicals aren’t produced by the body but are extracted from a number of plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products to combat the signs of ageing. Another benefit, like that of alpha-lipoic acid, is their ability to reduce the prevalence of certain cancers like prostate, colon and breast cancer.

For some time now it has also been known that the vitamins B5, B6 and B12 also have anti-ageing skin care properties. Although the area of anti-ageing skin care products is huge, more is being learnt about the whole ageing process and about natural products that can reduce the effects it has on our bodies as well as our skin.

In time new discoveries will be made advancing our understanding of the ageing process and products that can reduce or reverse the effects more successfully. In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use.

However, man-made skin care regimes should be used only as a supplement. For instance, regular sleep patterns, exercise, a good healthy diet and less stress will all contribute to reducing the signs of ageing.
