It is quite normal to expect people to want to look and feel good so this might explain why we think anti-ageing skin care products will help. We achieve this with anti-ageing products that synthesize the production of the protein collagen. This category of skin products is in fact related to anti-oxidants.

Vitamin C is probably one of the better known anti-oxidants in use today but the debate about the daily quota required is ongoing. The main problem when using any skin care treatments which use vitamin C is that oxidization can occur as soon as they have contact with the air.

To overcome this problem, manufacturers use alternative skin care treatments that still provide the same benefits but not the high manufacturing costs. These alternative products are not as effective as vitamin C but vitamin E and lipoic acid are anti-oxidants and are now being used.

It is found in the blood it is an anti-oxidant that is also used to increase the body’s defences against other diseases. It’s function is to provide energy and reverse much of the damage caused to the skin by ageing.

Other compounds called phytochemicals, have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products. These include prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer.

Surprisingly, the group of vitamins; B5, B6, and B12 have also shown that they can be used to help reduce the effects of ageing. This is a vast area that has the potential for many new anti-ageing skin care products and services in the future but research needs to continue.

In time new discoveries will be made advancing our understanding of the ageing process and products that can reduce or reverse the effects more successfully. In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use.

Fortunately there are a number of natural anti-ageing regimes that can be carried out that do not rely on science. What proportion of the population actually eat healthily, take plenty of exercise, drink sufficient water and obtain restful and regular sleep?
