anti aging skincare product awards
People’s preoccupation with anti-ageing skin car products that claim to make you look younger, is not surprising when most of us can expect to live longer and have fuller more active lives. Twenty-five per cent of the skin’s protein is collagen. Collagen is related to other anti-ageing substances in the body called anti-oxidants.
Vitamin C is probably one of the better known anti-oxidants in use today but the debate about the daily quota required is ongoing. Skin care treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.
Other skin care treatments which mimic the effects of vitamin C are being tried all the time which are hoped to be more stable in the atmosphere and also cheaper to produce. These new anti-oxidant products are not quite as good as vitamin C although other naturally occurring compounds, vitamin E and lipoic acid can achieve the same effect.
Vitamin E is a fat-soluble anti-oxidant and is found in human blood, it helps build resistance against infection like cancer. Lipoic acid which is found inside every cell of the body helps generate the energy that keeps us alive and functioning.
Another group of products used to reduce the visible signs of ageing are phytochemicals which are compounds extracted from various plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products. Like lipoic acid, phytochemicals help reduce the occurrence of cancers such as prostate, breast and colon cancers.
Surprisingly, the group of vitamins; B5, B6, and B12 have also shown that they can be used to help reduce the effects of ageing. The use of anti-ageing skin care products is a huge scientific field to research and has far greater potential than just producing goods that reduce the visible signs of age.
In time new discoveries will be made advancing our understanding of the ageing process and products that can reduce or reverse the effects more successfully. In time it is hoped that less expensive and more reliable anti-ageing skin care products will become available for a larger number of people to use.
They cannot replace natural skin care remedies. So, drinking plenty of water, getting a good night’s sleep, exercising regularly, maintaining healthy eating habits and keeping stress at bay are essential means of delaying the ageing process.
