anti-aging products
Anti-ageing skin care products are very popular today, which is not surprising as we are all living longer, fuller lives so why shouldn’t we want to look younger for ever? This is done by encouraging the growth of the protein collagen which happens to be the main source of the protein used in the connective tissue of skin. Most anti-ageing products (collagen included) fall into the category of anti-oxidants which are the body’s method of slowing down the ageing process.
You probably know many anti-oxidants by name, including vitamin C, the use of which is still, even now, hotly debated in the science and nutrition community. Unfortunately all skin care treatments that use vitamin C have the problem of atmospheric oxidization to contend with once the product is exposed to the air.
To get around this some skin care treatments are based on derivatives of vitamin C, which are more stable and less expensive. Although these products are good, they cannot actually compare with vitamin C but fortunately vitamin E and alpha-lipoic acid are also anti-oxidants so can be used to gain the same effect.
It is found in the blood it is an anti-oxidant that is also used to increase the body’s defences against other diseases. It is known to combat the signs of ageing very effectively by reversing skin damage caused by the ageing process.
Phytochemicals aren’t produced by the body but are extracted from a number of plants and used in many anti-ageing skin care products to combat the signs of ageing. These include prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer.
Other vitamins from the B group, are also used in anti-ageing skin care like vitamins B5, B6 and B12 for example. This is a vast area that has the potential for many new anti-ageing skin care products and services in the future but research needs to continue.
A great deal about the ageing process has already been learned and the products available today are already far more advanced than ten years ago but there is still a long way to go. With the research that is now taking place, many people are confident that in time, more effective, cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be discovered.
We must not forget however, that there are many more natural methods we can all use to reduce the signs of ageing on a regular basis. Simple things that can make a difference in slowing the signs of ageing.
