anti-aging reviews
Although vanity plays a large part in the use of anti-ageing skin care products and treatments, the growth in popularity is due in no small part to the fact that we are all living and working longer. This is achieved by promoting the growth of connective tissue in the skin via the protein collagen which is the most abundant in the skin of all animals. Anti-oxidants are also part of this same group, all related to reducing the signs of ageing.
Probably the best known of these anti-oxidants is vitamin C although no-one really knows just how much we should have each day. Skin care treatments that are based on vitamin C, pose the problem of becoming oxidized themselves as they come into contact with air during their usage.
Manufacturers are trying alternative skin care treatments to vitamin C that do not have this oxidization problem or cost as much to produce. These new anti-oxidant products are not quite as good as vitamin C although other naturally occurring compounds, vitamin E and lipoic acid can achieve the same effect.
It is found in the blood it is an anti-oxidant that is also used to increase the body’s defences against other diseases. Whereas lipoic acid is found in every single human cell.
Other compounds called phytochemicals, have proved to be beneficial in the formulation of anti-ageing skin care products. Another benefit, like that of alpha-lipoic acid, is their ability to reduce the prevalence of certain cancers like prostate, colon and breast cancer.
Surprisingly, the group of vitamins; B5, B6, and B12 have also shown that they can be used to help reduce the effects of ageing. This just goes to highlight just how complex and far reaching the whole field of anti-ageing skin care products is and why so much more research is required.
Although current regimes are effective, there are still many challenges to finding better and more efficient ways to combat the effects of time. With the research that is now taking place, many people are confident that in time, more effective, cheaper anti-ageing skin care products will be discovered.
We must not forget however, that there are many more natural methods we can all use to reduce the signs of ageing on a regular basis. For instance, regular sleep patterns, exercise, a good healthy diet and less stress will all contribute to reducing the signs of ageing.
